BMW F 450 GS Unveiled, Estimated at RM40K

BMW Motorrad Malaysia has introduced the all-new BMW F 450 GS, marking the return of the legendary GS spirit in a lighter and more agile form.

First showcased as a concept model at the EICMA international motorcycle exhibition in 2024, the production version of the BMW F 450 GS retains the distinctive design identity and high-performance engineering of that original vision. This model is specifically designed for riders seeking the perfect balance between daily usability, long-distance comfort, and off-road capability, without the weight and complexity often associated with larger-displacement motorcycles.

Highlights:

At the heart of the BMW F 450 GS is a brand-new, liquid-cooled 420cc parallel-twin engine.
It produces maximum power of 35 kW (48 hp) at 8,750 rpm and peak torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 165 km/h, while maintaining low fuel consumption of 3.8 l/100 km.

A wet sump lubrication system with a chain-driven oil pump ensures consistent oil supply.
The model features the BMW Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), a centrifugal clutch system that simplifies clutch control when starting off, changing gears, and manoeuvring on challenging terrain.

The clutch system is combined with BMW Shift Assistant Pro for clutchless gear changes.
LED headlight with an “X”-shaped daytime running light.

The handlebar made of aluminium tube, positioned high and close to the rider.
White hand protectors are included as standard equipment.

Fuel tank capacity of 14 litres.
In terms of chassis dimensions, the motorcycle features a wheelbase of 1,465 mm, a steering head angle of 28.1 degrees, and a trail of 115 mm.

The front suspension consists of an inverted fork with 43 mm inner tubes and 180 mm of travel, adjustable for compression and rebound damping.
The rear shock absorber also features adjustable spring preload and rebound damping, with rear suspension travel also reaching 180 mm.

Front and rear wheels are made of cast aluminium, sized 2.5 x 19 inches and 3.5 x 17 inches, fitted with tubeless tyres 100/90-19 and 130/80-17 respectively.
The front wheel features a single 310 mm floating brake disc with a four-piston Brembo caliper, and a single 240 mm disc with a single-piston floating caliper at the rear.

Electronic equipment includes ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR), and Riding Modes Pro, offering four riding modes: “Rain”, “Road”, “Enduro”, and “Enduro Pro”.
In terms of connectivity, it features a 6.5-inch TFT display, offering a wealth of information, display quality, and ease of use connected to a Multi-Controller.
